The Schiit stack does what it does extremely well, it gives you audio exactly (or damn close, in more precise terms) as it is mixed, no "secret sauce" to bring out footsteps, correct bass/treble, or add positional audio - it will sound as good as the source audio does.Īudio is highly subjective, if you like the sound of your soundblaster better, use it! Lots of headphone enthusiasts use "gaming" DACs with nice headphones - others (like myself) prefer the unadulterated sound the schiit stack produces - there isn't a wrong answer here - much like people who use tube amps aren't doing it because they're more accurate, they're just nicer to listen to. The regular 3.5mm is garbage it was never meant for that. Great combo but make sure you get cables to take advantage of the XLR ports. Envious, in the middle of upgrading too & the Modius, Magnius stack is on high consideration. It is twice as expensive as those I've listed, though I don't mind spending more if the Hel 2 is more futureproof / can run most headphones, so I don't need to upgrade if I end up purchasing 600ohms. I don't need a mic input, but I like the one-unit-for-everything that comes with the Hel 2. Would this be a good option fo the above, or should I go for a full Schiit stack Modi+Magni Heresy. I can order the Schiit Hel 2 or Schiit stack from Eu. Headphones are Sennheiser HD660s and Grado SR325e. I use both optically out from my CD player and USB from MacBook running Qobuz. These technologies don't exist because they're bad, they do change the sound, but if that is a positive for you, then there's no reason to doubt your ears. The F4 & the Hels should’ve been a recall issue. 1 Hi, I’m looking to replace my Chord Mojo with something new. The fake surround your soundblaster gives you, or it's additional audio processing/EQ might just make games sound better to your ear. It could be a matter of preference as well. As others have pointed out, look in to software EQ, disable spatial sound (Windows Sonic/Dolby Atmos) - turn off any surround/7.1 mimicking settings in game, some games will also have a dynamic range (audio) option that helps a lot with a well-resolving stack like you've got - you want this set on high where available. Schiit Fulla 2 (99) Amp: Yes Chip: AKM AK4490 DSD: No What We Like: Simple to use, good range of connections, solid sound. However, that might not be the issue you're having necessarily. In-Depth Reviews / Amps, DACs & DAPs By: Rob Boffard Last Updated: FebruWe use affiliate links and may receive a small commission on purchases. This is a review and detailed measurements of the Schiit Modi 3+ DAC. because they're optimized for bad dacs and mixed to overcome shortcomings in typical D/A converters and low quality PC headsets. The ADI-2 DAC supports audio files up to 768kHz. Some games just sound like trash on good dacs.
